A studio, observed
Deslyn is a design practice in Earlsfield founded by Sarah-Jane Allen, who worked under Martin Brudnizki, David Collins and Elicyon before opening her own room. A pink Brinsmead piano anchors it. Abstract canvases line the walls, and they are made on the floor of the same room they end up decorating.
The work photographs the studio as a space rather than a client: materials, surfaces, the hand at the table, the paint drying behind the curtain.

Reportage
Wimbledon, Queen's Club, Flushing Meadows
Frames from the grass and the hard court, made from the stands. The appeal is not just the tennis. It is that everything around it has been groomed to within an inch of itself: the ivy clipped, the crowd dressed for it, the flowers replaced before anyone sees them wilt.
The sequence runs from the gate to the last walk off court.
Unposed
Three strangers, none of them directed. Included because a camera behaves differently when nobody has been arranged in front of it.
Working together
Commissions are taken for interiors and architecture, editorial and press, and documentary coverage where the subject can be left alone. Everything is shot on film and delivered as hand-edited scans, with prints and enlargements available from the archived negatives at any point afterwards.
