Pradyumna — film photographer based in London, formerly New York and Chicago

Pradyumna

I'm a film photographer now rooted in London, having lived in New York and Chicago — cities whose restless energy shaped the way I see. I've been shooting on film for over ten years, drawn to the patience and honesty the medium demands. I've also wandered through wide stretches of nature: open fields, silent coasts, places where stillness tells the story.

In every landscape, human or wild, the emotions are the same. A shared laugh, a quiet glance, hands reaching through the noise — these moments know no borders.

I choose film because it lingers. It keeps the grain, the gentle fade, the unguarded truth of a second that will never return. I want you to look back years later and feel exactly what you felt right then.

London's bridges, its hidden corners, its restless light are my current frame. Whether in city streets or open countryside, I'm chasing the same thing: the instant when a moment becomes a story worth keeping.

Get in touch
Pradyumna captured our day exactly as it felt — natural, joyful, and full of life. The film photos have this warmth and honesty that digital just can't replicate. Every time we look at them, we're right back on those New York streets, holding hands, completely in the moment. We couldn't have asked for anything more beautiful.

Before You Book

Why film instead of digital?

Film has a warmth, grain, and tonal quality that digital editing tries to imitate but never quite matches. The colours are richer, the skin tones are more natural, and there's an organic softness that makes every image feel timeless rather than trendy. When you look at your photos in ten or twenty years, they won't look dated — they'll look like they could have been taken yesterday or fifty years ago.

How long until I get my photos?

Film needs to be professionally developed and scanned before I can edit. You'll typically receive your finished gallery within 2-3 weeks. I'll send a few preview scans within the first week so you have something to share while the full set is being prepared.

I already have a digital wedding photographer. Why add film?

Your digital photographer will give you thorough, reliable coverage of every moment. I give you something different — the images that feel like memories rather than photographs. Film captures light and skin in a way that's impossible to replicate in Lightroom. Many couples find that their film photos become the ones they frame, print, and come back to most. Think of it as a luxury layer on top of your existing coverage.

How does a small business shoot work?

I'll visit your space — your café, shop, studio, restaurant — and spend 1-2 hours capturing what makes it special. That includes the environment, the details, you and your team at work, and the feeling of being there. Film gives your brand a distinctive, handcrafted look that sets you apart from the sea of iPhone and stock photos online. You'll receive 15-20 edited scans ready for your website, social media, menus, or print materials.

What if it rains or the weather is bad?

Some of my favourite images were shot in the rain — wet streets reflect light beautifully on film, and overcast skies create soft, even lighting that's actually flattering for portraits. That said, if conditions are genuinely unworkable, we'll reschedule at no extra cost.

How many photos will I receive?

For portrait and couple sessions, you'll receive 15-20 hand-edited digital scans. For wedding coverage, 40-60 scans depending on the duration. Every image is individually edited — no batch processing, no presets. Large prints and framing are available on request as an additional service.

What happens to the negatives?

Your negatives are carefully archived by me. This means if you ever want additional prints, enlargements, or different crops in the future, I can produce them at any size with full quality. It's like having a master copy of your memories stored safely — you'll never lose access to your images.

Where do you shoot in London?

Anywhere that has good light and character. I know London well and can suggest locations based on what you're looking for — from Southbank and Shoreditch to Hampstead Heath and Notting Hill. I'm also happy to shoot at a location that's meaningful to you. For business shoots, I'll come to your space.

Do I need to prepare anything for the shoot?

Just bring yourself and wear something you feel great in. I'll handle the rest — location, timing for the best light, and direction during the session. I'll send you a short guide before the shoot with tips on what to wear and what to expect. The most important thing is that you feel relaxed and comfortable.
